Fleur de Lis Cross Pendant
The Fleur di Lis symbol has been used in heraldry since around the eleventh century and was used by the kings of France, but the motif appeared earlier in eastern cultures. It was used in a banner carried by Joan of Arc when she led the French against the English in the Hunderd Years War. In the Catholoc Church the lilly is considerd the emblem of Mary and is also used to represent the holy trinity. Fleur de Lis cross pendants have been popular since the cannonisation of Joan of Arc as St Joan in 1920. Their form is like latin or Greek crosses but with a trefoil adornmet at the end of each bar to represent the symbol of the fleur di lis.Page 1 of 2
