Celtic Cross Pendant
The celtic cross pendant is based on the latin cross with a circle centred on the intersection of the two arms. Celtic crosses are associated with regions populated by the celtic races in Ireland, Cornwall, Scotland and elsewhere in Britain. Legend has it that St Partick intoduced the form in order to bring together the Christian cross and the pagan sun cross. Celtic crosses are seen in stone sculpture by the seventh century and became popular markers of Christian sites until the fifteenth century when they ceased to be sculpted. The celtic cross pendant is especially popular amoungst christians of Irish desent in America.Page 1 of 4
